Happy Mothers' Day

Just in Time for Mother's Day

Here you go folks, a photo of our favourite son and favourite daughter, Franck (will be 18 in July) and Ada (21). This photo was taken at our renewal of vows ceremony last summer. I am very proud of both of them - they are interesting people, solid values, real talents in lots of areas.

Being their mother is one of the greatest pleasures of my life. There is so much fun in parenting - and I have been so lucky in Geoff, my parenting partner. I am also so grateful for our extended families - the welcoming warmth that our kids know they can count on from their grandparents, aunties and uncles. And grateful for our other extended family, our friends, who have watched us all grow up together and have opened your hearts.

I have been incredibly lucky to share my life with Geoff, Ada and Franck.

AND we have been incredibly lucky to share our lives with you, Geoff, Ada and Franck! (not to mention the added bonus of the three weeks that we lived in your basement) Warmth, care, love, good laughs and serious hospitality have always been a given with you guys and you do it with so much ease. You are our hero family and we love you to bits.

Yes, nothing like a party at the Goodrich Oliver home! Two gorgeous kids, devoted hubby who grows orchids, doesn't get much better than that! A mom who takes her silk kimono on camping trips (and wears it) is a pretty darn classy mom, not to mention loyal to her family and friends, WITHOUT conditions. A mom who greets her teenaged kids to a new day by singing at the top of her lungs, after they've been partying into the wee hours of the morning and then laughs about it. Not only are you an amazing mom, friend, sister, cousin you're also a top notch federal policy analyst who determined that more time spent playing snooker with colleagues would reap unlimited benefits for the country. It's that good old Hummason common sense coming to the fore. Much love, Linda

Yes, what beautiful children! And what a lovely celebration that was. But, I best remember how beautiful you looked in that wonderful hat. Happy "Mothers' Week" to you and I hope you can get out and enjoy the spring (finally) weather we're having.
As for a low-maintenance vegetable garden - I think that is when Geoff does the weeding. I have a couple extra heirloom cherry tomato seedlings - White Cranberry - are you interested?
Love, Terri

We're very happy to be part of this blog Robin and hope you are having a comfortable spring with better weather than we've been having here in Nova Scotia. Rain for 3 weeks solid now.
The picture of Ada and Franck, reminds me your renewal of vows ceremony and the little ditty I wrote about your red hat.
Here it is again.

What a hat

It was a hat that turned a thousand heads
That only a swanly neck could bear

It was a princess hat
At Queenly hat
A Jackie hat
A red pillbox hat

A most elegant hat

A hat that told a thousand words
Here I am
A defiant, daring hat
A proud hat
A forever fighting hat

Cardinal red
Calling for its mate
From the highest tree
And when we search and see
She makes the moment magic

A hat to remember
for a thousand years
Robin’s hat
A hat that blazed
And left a precious
Glow in our hearts
